Dirty and Filthy Property
The first review by Judith Chapman is a scathing attack on the lodge's condition. Upon arrival, the reviewer was greeted by Liz, who showed them around the property. However, they were appalled by the level of dirt and grime present. The floors were covered in food debris, grease was smeared on the walls, and there was even mouldy coffee cups and bread and butter left by the previous tenants. The stairs leading to the twin room were narrow and dark, with no handrail, and the carpet at the top was nailed down. The twin room itself had peeling wallpaper and was damp, while the master bedroom had a bed that had been slept in by the previous renters and was still dirty. The kitchen was in a state of disrepair, with grease-covered walls and a rusty cooker. After inspecting the property further, the reviewer discovered a host of additional issues, including no PAT test on equipment, non-functioning smoke alarms, and mice traps. They ultimately decided to leave the property immediately, citing its filth, smelly, and dangerous conditions.
Quirky and Cosy Gate House
The second review by Dee A. is a much more positive one. The reviewer stayed in a listed gatehouse in the grounds of Gosford Forest and found it to be quirky, old-world, cosy, and warm. They enjoyed the comfortable bed, great shower, and large garden, which was perfect for exploring with children and dogs. The gatehouse had limited kitchen facilities, but there were plenty of places to eat in the nearby village.
