Oban's 1st Steps Day Nursery is a privately run nursery that takes pride in offering high-quality, affordable care to children aged 0-5 years. Our Nursery
Our nursery is situated in an attractively renovated building that was originally a school in 1888, overlooking the picturesque bay of Oban. We are registered for the provision of full-day care and early learning childcare for up to 43 children aged 3 months to 5 years old. Our nursery is divided into three bright and airy rooms, each tailored to meet the specific needs of different age groups, as well as extensive garden and playground areas for children to explore.
Our Services
We offer a range of services designed to meet the individual needs of each child. Our qualified and caring nursery practitioners are committed to providing a happy and secure environment, where children can thrive and develop their full potential. Our services include:
- Babies (3 months to 2 years): We provide a safe and nurturing environment that stimulates children's senses and promotes their development.
- Tweenies (2 to 3 years): We offer a cosy and stimulating environment that fosters children's independence and promotes their self-choice.
- Early Learning Childcare (3 to 5 years): We provide a range of activities and planning that help children develop their skills and prepare for a seamless transition to school.
Our Approach
We believe that every child is unique and should be at the centre of our practise. We use recommended national guidance from the Pre-Birth to Three, Curriculum for Excellence, National Care Standards, and The Child at the Centre to inform our planning for each and every child. Each child has a nursery key worker who is responsible for maintaining and updating records of their development. We also operate an open-door policy, encouraging parents to participate in their child's learning and development.
Our Extra Curriculum Activities
We offer a range of extra-curricular activities designed to enrich children's learning and development. These include reading sessions, ballet dance sessions, and Gaelic language sessions. We also believe in the importance of outdoor play and ensure that children spend time outside every day, whatever the weather.
