Your car, our care, and your peace of mind

Carol Saunders Swim School, established in 1987, began with a single class of six swimmers at Sherburn High School and has now grown to provide lessons at various locations across the country. Founded on a love for swimming and teaching, our school has built a reputation for delivering high-quality swimming lessons in a friendly and personable manner.

Our Services

We offer a range of classes for ages 3 and above, catering to all abilities from beginners to advanced level and sport-specific training to improve fitness, stroke development, and speed. Our Baby & Preschool Classes, suitable for infants from birth to 3 years, gently introduce young swimmers to the pool and lesson environment with the comfort of a parent or guardian.

Our Tiddlers Academy, baby & preschool classes, offer a relaxed and supportive environment, nurturing a child's confidence and ability in the water through play and exploration.

For those interested in a career in aquatics, we offer a variety of teacher training courses, providing the necessary skills and certification for a successful career in teaching swimming.

Quality Equipment & Partnerships

At Carol Saunders Swim School, we believe in using the best equipment and people to deliver our lessons. That's why we've developed a partnership with Aquaplane, a multi-functional swimming aid designed for use throughout a child's entire swimming development. With Aquaplane, children can enjoy a consistent and confident swimming experience, from learning to swim to refining their technique.

Our team is comprised of fully qualified swimming teachers with Swim England and Swimming Teachers Association certifications. With a commitment to safety and protection, all of our staff and volunteers are cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau before beginning work at the Swim School.

Recognition & Affiliations

As an affiliated Swim England Swim School, we hold an STAMark Bronze Accreditation, recognising our commitment to delivering high standards of swimming tuition and coaching. We are also proud of our recognition as Swim Coach of the Year 2016, and are proud supporters of the Children's University and the National Family Business Awards.

Reviews
Positive: Most customers had positive experiences with CSSS, praising the school's instructors and seeing significant improvement in their children's swimming skills.
Negative: Some customers, however, experienced poor service, cancellation of lessons, and lack of refunds, and warned others to avoid the school.

Poor Service and Cancellation Issues

Several customers have expressed their disappointment with the swimming lessons provided by Carol Saunders Swim School (CSSS). Two reviewers, Michelle Hairsine and Octane Adventurer Oca, gave the school a rating of 1 star, citing poor service, cancellation of lessons, and lack of refunds. Michelle's child had attended lessons for almost two years, but the school kept cancelling lessons and refused to provide a full refund. Octane Adventurer Oca paid for a set term of lessons, but the school was unable to conduct one lesson during the term period, and they refused to refund their money. Both reviewers warned others to avoid the school.

Inconsistent Teachers and Poor Progress

Another reviewer, Emily Smith, was unhappy with the progress her child made at the school. Her child had been swimming for two years, but showed no progress due to different instructors and poor consistency. She also mentioned that the groups were overcrowded, and the children had limited swim time. The classes were often cancelled due to issues with the pools. Emily ultimately moved to a different swim school and saw significant improvement in her child's swimming skills.

Positive Experiences

On the other hand, five reviewers had a positive experience with CSSS. Amanda Cordwell, Katie Joy, Lara Millington, and Helen Williams all gave the school a rating of 5 stars. Amanda praised the school's instructors, Ashley and Ellie, who helped her daughter overcome her fear of the water. Katie Joy's child overcame his fear of the water with the help of teachers Megan and Sarah, and Lara Millington's daughter showed significant improvement in confidence and swimming skills with teacher Chantelle. Helen Williams praised both Megan and Chantelle as wonderful teachers who help her children progress brilliantly.
