Olive Tree Garden Design is a professional practice based in Nottingham, providing a comprehensive and friendly garden design service to clients in West Bridgford, Nottingham, and Nottinghamshire. Founded by Jackie Setchfield in 2010, the company has garnered an reputation for creating unique and tailored garden spaces that cater to individual tastes and requirements. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of plant combinations and landscape materials, Olive Tree Garden Design transforms the look and feel of gardens, be they formal, cottage, Mediterranean, or contemporary in style.
Jackie's passion for garden design began at a young age, and after a successful career in marketing, she decided to follow her first love, combining her delight in all things botanical and creating beautiful spaces. She holds RHS level 2 and 3 qualifications and has honed her design skills through studying for a degree in Horticulture and Garden Design at Nottingham Trent University. She is a Pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers.
In 2013, Jackie entered and won a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show with her design for The Motor Neurone Disease Association. She was also commissioned by Nottingham Trent University to design a Nottingham City Centre oasis as part of their Greening the City Initiative, which won a Gold Award at the International Green Apple awards for its biodiversity in an urban situation. Jackie is committed to constantly seeking new ideas and refining her designing process, interning at RHS Wisley and RHS Rosemoor, and working with the Head Gardener at the stunning sub-tropical Abbey Gardens on Tresco in the Scilly Isles.

Design Consultation
Our journey begins with a garden design consultation visit at your home, where we can meet you and start to understand your overall objectives, be they functional or whimsical. Following this meeting, we will email you with a Design Fee Proposal and written design brief for your approval.
Top Line Survey
Once commissioned, we will conduct a survey of the site to record all measurements and key features, apparent utilities, soil condition, and aspect.
Concept Plans
Concepts are realised through aerial views and sketches, which show the overall layout of the garden. Several concepts may be drafted for discussion, which helps in refining the ultimate plan. At this stage, material choices, levels, plants or any intricate details of features have not been finalised.
Mood Boards
Aspirational photos on mood boards will help to bring the design direction to life.
Design Plan
A final plan is drawn up, usually on CAD - hand-drawn if specified, noting each type of material for hardscape. 3D visuals and animation are available for an extra fee, which is strongly advised for complex projects.
We work with professional landscapers and local nurseries to ensure the best quality result. Jackie's approach is informal, which along the creative journey, ensures she will draw out exactly what her clients would like, even if they have no firm ideas at the outset. Most of all, she delights in delighting her clients, inspiring them with ideas on how to make their gardens flourish with a new lease of life.
