Peebles Dental Practice

Peebles Dental Practice is a friendly and approachable dental practice located just off the High Street in the charming town of Peebles. Our dedicated team is committed to providing high-quality dental care for both children and adults, with the aim of making every visit as pleasant as possible. We understand that visiting the dentist may not be everyone's favourite pastime, but we strive to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all our patients.

In addition to NHS dental care, we offer private and cosmetic options that are not covered by the NHS. We are also fortunate to have a dental hygienist as part of our team, who can provide a range of dental hygiene treatments.

NHS Registration

Unfortunately, we are currently only able to accept children (under the age of 18) of existing patients as new NHS patients. However, if you are an adult looking for a dentist, we welcome you to join the practice on a private basis. Our fees are affordable and there is no requirement to join a dental plan.

If you are not registered with a dentist and you need urgent dental care, please contact the Dental Enquiry Line between 8:00 and 18:00 on 0300 7900710, or outwith these hours call NHS24 on 111.

Meet the Team

Our team is made up of experienced and qualified dental professionals who are dedicated to providing the best possible care for our patients.

Mr Roger Zais (Dentist)

BDS (Germany) 2002, DrMedDent GDC No. 104269

Roger grew up in Germany and qualified from dental school in 2002. After working in Bavaria for four years, he moved to the UK and settled in Yorkshire. In 2013, Roger and his wife, Renee, decided to relocate to the Borders to take over Mr Miller's practice. Roger's interests outside of dentistry include vintage and classic cars, cycling, and modern art and sculptures. He speaks both English and German.

Mrs Renee Zais (Dentist)

BDS Newcastle 2000 GDC No. 77892

Renee is originally from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and qualified from dental school in 2000. She has worked in Sunderland and York before moving to the Borders with Roger. In her spare time, Renee enjoys cooking and baking, and has a large collection of cookery books. She is also interested in science, history, and modern art, and speaks both English and Greek.

Mrs Layna Tait (Dental Hygienist)

CEB Dip Dent Hygiene 1997 GDC No. 5297

Layna joined the team in 2015, enabling us to expand the range of dental hygiene treatments we offer. She currently works on a Tuesday.

Miss Fiona Borthwick (Dental Nurse)

National Certificate NEBDN 1995 GDC No. 188392

Fiona qualified as a dental nurse in 1995 and has been with the practice since 2009. She can usually be found on reception and will be your first contact when you phone or visit the practice.

Mrs Zoe Meikle (Dental Nurse)

National Certificate NEBDN 2011 GDC No. 219520

Zoe joined the practice in 2009 and can mainly be found in surgery, assisting the dentists.

Mrs Samantha Melville (Dental Nurse)

National Diploma NEBDN 2010 GDC No. 196899

Sam joined Peebles Dental Practice in 2015 and can also be mainly found in surgery, assisting the dentists.
