Project Overview
The project involved laying porcelain tiles on pedestals in a courtyard garden and constructing a cedar panel screen. The client obtained a scale drawing of the site and contacted Vista with their requirements.
Delays and Issues
The contractor, Kamil, turned up late and delivered materials. However, the sub-contractor, Marcin, ran out of materials for the cedar panelling, leading to delays. The client rejected the replacement wood as it did not match the original. There were also issues with the tile laying, including an area that was not quoted correctly and additional 'extra jobs' demanded for which the client refused to pay.
Grouting Issue
The grouting used for the tiles was pink and looked out of place, despite Kamil taking a tile sample to match the grouting.
Company Response
Vista, the company handling the project, did not visit the site and merely passed on the job to contractors who subcontracted and profited from it. The client has requested several times for an inspection and correction of errors but is still waiting.
