HCT Turf is a well-established partnership that has been growing, supplying, and laying turf and topsoil across the South West for the past 50 years. Since our inception in 1973 by Vernon Hockley and George Cann, we have had the privilege of assisting homeowners, landscapers, and commercial clients in creating stunning outdoor spaces. Our long-standing experience and commitment to providing top-quality products and services have earned us a reputation as a trusted and reliable supplier in the South West.

Our team has grown over the years, and we are proud to say that we are still a family-run business. In 1988, Vernon's son Richard joined the team, and more recently, George's daughter Stephanie has also come on board. Our current workforce of six includes our delivery drivers, James and Robbie, Paul, Rich, and Joe, who maintain and produce the turf, and Sarah, who co-ordinates the office.

In 2012, we moved to our current premises in Topsham, where we continue to maintain the highest standards of turf production. Our commitment to quality and customer service has enabled us to produce seeded amenity turf that is hardwearing and smart, containing a mixture of dwarf perennial rye grasses and fescues. We take pride in the fact that our turf is locally grown in Devon, cut one day and delivered the next, ensuring our customers receive the freshest turf possible.

Our Services

At HCT Turf, we offer a range of services to meet the needs of our customers. We supply turf and topsoil to thousands of private gardens every year, ranging from a few dozen rolls for those who know nothing about grass to large and elaborate gardens belonging to serious gardeners. Our turf is suitable for all lawn types, including domestic lawns, sports fields, and commercial landscaping projects.

We also supply turf to landscapers who operate at all levels, from entire new housing estates to the smallest gardens. Our topsoil is screened and of suitable quality, making it essential for any successful garden or landscaping project. We keep a stock of topsoil, ensuring our customers have access to the quantity and quality they need for their projects.

In addition to supplying turf and topsoil, we also offer a laying service. Our experienced team can lay turf for homeowners, landscapers, and commercial clients, ensuring a professional finish to any project. Our laying service includes preparing the ground, laying the turf, and rolling it to ensure it is level and compact.

Customers

We cater to a wide range of customers, including homeowners, landscapers, and commercial clients. Our other commercial customers include golf courses, camp sites, garden centres, local house builders, utility companies, and groundworkers. We have also supplied turf for landscaping projects for businesses such as country hotels, Exeter Cathedral, municipal grounds, and business premises.

Community Involvement

At HCT Turf, we are committed to giving back to our community. We recently concluded our FREE TO ENTER photo campaign, #ILoveMyDevonGarden 2022, which raised money to help disabled people in Devon enjoy the great outdoors. We are delighted to have contributed to such a worthy cause and will continue to look for ways to support our community.
