Empowering young minds for a brighter future
Hazelbank Primary School is a friendly, rural school nestled at the foot of Slemish in the heart of the Braid, just outside Broughshane village. We are committed to providing a safe, stimulating and disciplined environment where good relationships are fostered and respect for one another is valued.
Our school has a rich history, dating back to 15th April 1985 when we first opened our doors. We replaced three small schools, Upper Buckna, Mullindreen and Racavan (also known as Hazelbank). Our first principal, Mr J V Russell, worked tirelessly with our dedicated Board of Governors and teaching staff to establish our excellent reputation within the community.
Over the years, we have grown and developed, currently having an enrolment of 161 pupils taught in 7 single class groupings. We pride ourselves on being small enough to enjoy the benefits of a warm family atmosphere, yet big enough to provide our pupils with the breadth of curricular experiences, opportunities, and social interaction necessary to ensure each child fulfils their individual potential.
