Welcome to Breightmet Golf Club, a welcoming and challenging golf club nestled between the picturesque villages of Bury and Bolton. Founded over a century ago, our course has delighted golfers of all abilities for generations.

Our History

The club's roots date back to 1911 when local businessmen, alongside a doctor, lawyer, and councillor, established Breightmet Golf Club on farmland close to the Coach and Horses pub in Ainsworth. Initially housed in a charming Elizabethan farmhouse, the club gradually evolved over the years. In 1966, a new nine-hole course was added, and in 2004-2005, the course was extended to a full 18 holes, allowing us to host prestigious competitions like the Bolton & District Golf Championships.
