Your South Downs Pub & Community Hub
The Blue Bell at Cocking is a community-owned free house nestled below the South Downs Way, offering a warm welcome to locals and visitors alike. Rescued from closure in 2019 through a local fundraising effort, we have meticulously refurbished the premises to create a bright, modern space while preserving its historic charm. Our pub serves fresh, locally sourced food, a curated selection of local ales, and excellent coffee, complemented by a dog-friendly garden with panoramic views of the Downs. We provide three en-suite B & B rooms, each designed for comfort, and operate as an official South Downs National Park Information Point.

Our onsite Trollied Pantry stocks daily essentials, and we offer cycle repair facilities to support outdoor enthusiasts. The Blue Bell also hosts cultural events, including art exhibitions and a monthly quiz, fostering community engagement. With strong ties to the village, we pride ourselves on being a hub for both social interaction and practical services, from laundry facilities to event bookings. Our team is dedicated to ensuring every guest experiences the unique character and hospitality that define this historic establishment, which has served Cocking village in various forms for centuries.
