Torphins Playgroup

At Torphins Playgroup Preschool, we are dedicated to providing a fun, safe, warm, and inclusive preschool playgroup setting in Aberdeenshire for children from the age of two until they attend primary school. As a registered Scottish Charity, we are run by a committee of parent and community volunteers who are committed to providing a unique early years learning environment.

Our Philosophy

We believe that children learn best through play, and our experienced staff team provides creative and engaging activities for the children to take part in, as well as every opportunity to find and follow their own interests and develop their sense of self. Our philosophy is centered around child-led learning, where we support the children to develop at their own pace, and provide a great first bridge between home life and school life.

Our Services

We offer a range of services designed to support children's learning and development. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and imagination, with areas for role play, creative play, outdoor activities, free play, and messy play. We also provide a range of activities and resources to support children's learning, including art, music, and physical education.

Our Team

Our staff team is comprised of experienced and qualified early years practitioners who are passionate about providing high-quality care and education to children. Our team is led by Laura Crichton, our Lead Early Years Practitioner, who has a wealth of experience in early years education and is committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children to thrive.

Our Facilities

Our premises, located at Ha'berry, St Marnan Road, Torphins, Banchory, Aberdeenshire, AB31 4JQ, offers a spacious and well-equipped environment for children to learn and play. Our facility is designed to be safe, accessible, and inclusive, with outdoor spaces that provide opportunities for children to engage in physical activity and explore the natural environment.
