Stiwdio Un is a residential recording studio and rehearsal space, located near the picturesque town of Bangor in North Wales. Our studio is equipped to cater to all your audio-related needs, whether you require a modern produced sound, a live and intimate feel, or simply need to record a script. We pride ourselves on our ability to accommodate a wide range of requirements, utilising both modern and vintage technology.

Our Studio

At the heart of our studio is our preferred recording platform, Digidesign Pro Tools. However, we also support other platforms such as Logic Pro X, Abelton Live 9, Reason 8, Studio One 3, Reaper, Sibelius, and Cubase SX. Our collection of instruments and gear is constantly expanding, ensuring that we can provide you with everything you need to create and capture your sound.

In addition to our recording facilities, we also offer 24-hour access, allowing you to record at a time that suits you best. Our recording rates are competitive, starting from just 35 per hour, which includes an engineer, mixing, and mastering. We also offer weekend recording sessions and engineer packages, starting from 430 per day. Furthermore, we provide rehearsal space at an hourly rate of 10 or 25 for three hours.

Residential Sessions

Stiwdio Un provides residential recording sessions, providing you with the perfect environment to focus on your craft. Our accommodation is designed to offer comfort and inspiration, with stunning views of the Ogwen Valley and mountainside. Our bunkhouse and cabin can accommodate up to 9 guests, making it the ideal location for recording retreats and writing sessions.

Additional Services

At Stiwdio Un, we offer a range of additional services, including voice-over recording, location recordings, mixing and mastering, and tape transfers and restoration. We can even provide you with recording project advice, equipment and instrument hire, and acoustic advice for installations and events. We have a wealth of experience in recording various genres of music, including choirs, brass bands, and rock and pop bands, through to opera, folk, jazz, and world music.

Meet the Team

Our team is led by Sam Durrant, an experienced sound engineer and producer. Sam has been recording sound and producing music since 1988 and has worked with various ensembles, bands, and orchestras. With a background in classical music, Sam has a broad taste in music, owning over 6000 albums on vinyl and several thousand on CD. Sam's primary role at Stiwdio Un is that of an engineer and producer, but he is also qualified in electronics and computer programming, and plays music for pleasure.
