A Brief History of Tyn Cellar Farm
With a rich history that can be traced back to the 1300s, Tyn Cellar Farm was once part of the esteemed Margam Abbey. After the dissolution of the Abbey by Henry VIII, the farm emerged as a vital part of the local community. The name "Tyn Cellar" translates to "The house of the Cellar man", referencing the second-in-command at the Abbey whose responsibilities included buying and selling goods and labour for the monastery. We are proud to preserve and share the history of Tyn Cellar Farm, as well as the fascinating stories of the tenants who have lived and worked this land.
Our dedication to preserving the original character of our property is evident in the intricate details of each room. We have taken great care in using traditional methods and locally-sourced materials to create an authentic and charming atmosphere at Tyn Cellar Farm. From the characterful lime-plastered walls and rebuilt stone doorways to the reclaimed pine and oak flooring, each element of our farm has been carefully curated to offer an unparalleled glimpse into the past while catering to the needs of our guests.
