At Hedgefield House, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional guest accommodation in Newcastle, situated in a stunning Georgian Mansion House, surrounded by award-winning gardens of approximately four acres. Our beautifully decorated rooms, friendly staff, and warm welcome make us the perfect choice for those looking for a unique and relaxing stay in the North East.

Our History

Hedgefield House dates back to 1804, with a rich history that showcases its importance in the region. Prior to being used as guest accommodation, the house has had a colourful past, with documented evidence that it was the first home in Britain to have a telephone installed and connected to an underground site. In 1877, the inventor of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell, made the first experimental telephone call to the local coal mine. Today, we take pride in our heritage and strive to provide our guests with a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Our Services

Our guest accommodation is perfectly situated in the North East, within a short distance from Newcastle city centre, yet near to Hadrian's Wall and the Northumbrian countryside. Ideal for walkers, cyclists, and shoppers looking to explore the Metro Centre Shopping Complex. We offer a range of services to make your stay with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, including free wi-fi, ample on-site parking, and a warm welcome from our friendly staff. We also have a wide choice of local restaurants offering quality food, making us an excellent option for guests coming to the Great North Run or looking for extra accommodation for weddings at any of the local wedding venues.
