Leadhill Primary School

Affectionately known as "the hidden gem of the Castlereagh Hills, " Leadhill Primary School is a controlled primary school for boys and girls in Primary 1 to Primary 7. We have a Pre-school Playgroup that provides places for children from 2 years and 10 months. With over 50 years of serving the community, we have established a reputation for our outstanding pastoral care and high academic achievements.

Our Modern Facilities

In recent years, we have invested in modernising our interior to enhance the learning experiences of all our pupils. Our classrooms are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including height-adjustable touch boards, creative learning spaces, and nurturing areas. Our school site boasts impressive views over Belfast and features a range of large play equipment and playground markings to maximise children's play opportunities outdoors.

Our Two Playgrounds

Our Top Playground offers a unique feature - a fortress with stunning views over the city, a large grass and wooded area for energetic or quieter play, and a large tarmac area for sports, games, and exercise. Our Lower Playground features a super-slide, an outdoor classroom, and a range of equipment to encourage balance, climbing, and imagination. Moreover, our smaller outdoor learning areas provide opportunities to take learning outdoors throughout the year.

Wrap-Around Care and Extra-Curricular Activities

We offer Wrap-Around care to our pupils each school day, with Breakfast Club running from 8am and After School Club from 2pm to 6pm. Our experienced staff provide continuity of care for all children, and our After School Club offers a range of activities from skateboarding to ballet. We also provide music tuition in drumming, piano, and guitar, as well as an active choir and choral group.

Our Staff

Our teaching staff bring a variety of interests, training, specialisms, and academic qualifications that enable us to offer a rich and engaging curriculum. Our Principal leads a team of 9 teachers, including part-time staff. With a present enrolment of 160 pupils, we pride ourselves on our small class sizes and individual attention to each child's needs.

Learning Together

At Leadhill Primary School, we believe in learning together and moving forward as a community. Our Stay and Play sessions for children starting P1 in September 2024 are a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to interact, socialise, and have fun while preparing for their new educational journey. We are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where our pupils can thrive and reach their full potential.
