Our School
Cockfield C of E Primary School is a small, rural primary school located in the picturesque village of Cockfield, Suffolk. Our school has a rich history and a strong sense of community, which is reflected in the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our school is made up of four classes, each of which is named after a tree found in our local area. Our children are encouraged to take an active role in their learning, and we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is designed to engage and inspire.
School Council and Ethos Committee
At Cockfield C of E Primary School, we believe in the importance of giving our children a voice. Our School Council and Ethos Committee are made up of children from across the school who work together to make decisions about the running of the school.

Our Classes
Our school is made up of four classes, each named after a tree found in our local area.
- Lime class: Reception and Year 1
- Oak class: Year 2 and Year 3
- Willow class: Year 4 and Year 5
- Birch class: Year 6
Each class is supported by a team of dedicated teachers and support staff, who work together to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Key Information
Cockfield C of E Primary School is a voluntary controlled Church of England school, which is part of the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. We are also part of the Unity Schools Partnership, which is a multi-academy trust.
Our school has a long-standing relationship with Catey Pre-School, which is located on the same site. We work closely together to ensure a smooth transition for children moving from pre-school to primary school.
PE & Sport Premium
At Cockfield C of E Primary School, we are committed to promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. We use the PE and Sport Premium to provide additional sports coaching and resources for our children.
Catch up Premium
The Catch up Premium is used to support children who have missed out on education due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. We use this funding to provide additional support and resources to help these children catch up on their learning.
Forest School
We are proud to offer Forest School sessions as part of our curriculum. These sessions take place in our local woodland and provide children with the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, develop their leadership and teamwork skills, and take part in fun and engaging outdoor activities.
