Ryedale Plasterers is a family business that has been thriving since 1982, earning a prestigious reputation for excellence in the restoration of original plaster features. Based in a purposely built premises in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, our team of skilled craftsmen operates within a 75-mile radius of DL6 2NB, though we have completed projects nationwide, from Scotland to Kent.

As specialists in lime plasterwork and decorative moulding, we offer a wide range of bespoke and off-the-shelf products and services tailored to meet our clients' needs. Our expertise encompasses internal and external lime plastering/rendering, ornate plaster and cornice restoration, plasterware manufacture, on-site mould-making, and the creation of bespoke logos, crests, coats of arms, and other embellishments.

Our team is led by operations director Jack Atkinson, a skilled craftsman who began his career at Ryedale as an apprentice. With over 50 years of experience, our third-generation ornamental plasterer is a valuable asset to the company. Our apprentice is about to complete his NVQ Level 2, and our proficient assistant/labourer rounds out the team. Each member holds specialist craft qualifications, such as historical restoration, ornate & fibrous plastering, modelling, sculpting, and design crafts.

Traditional Plaster Techniques & Materials

At Ryedale Plasterers, we pride ourselves on using time-honoured plaster and lime techniques to create durable, ecological finishes that will stand the test of time. Over the past 25 years, we have amassed an extensive collection of historically accurate and modern moulds. These moulds, combined with our bespoke mould-making skills, enable us to create intricate, ornamental embellishments and carry out authentic restorations of original work.

We believe in using traditional materials, such as lime-haired render, to maintain the authenticity of a building. Sadly, we often encounter cases where lime or plasterwork is removed entirely, even though a skilled repair could be more cost-effective and preserve the character of a room. Our commitment to using traditional materials and techniques helps ensure that beautiful plasterwork is preserved for future generations.
