BUMPY, or Birstall Urban Motorcycle Project for Youth, is a distinguished registered charity (#702335) that has been serving the community since 1989. Initially established as a training, testing, and skills centre for young motorcyclists causing a nuisance on wasteland, BUMPY has evolved to provide a wide range of services to individuals of all ages and abilities. At BUMPY, we are dedicated to fulfilling the following objectives for the greater benefit of the public:

Providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure-time occupation for the public at large or for any section of the public with the object of improving their conditions of life.
Advancing education for the public benefit in motorcycling and motorcycle maintenance.

Our Services: On-Road Motorcycle Training

At BUMPY, we offer a variety of on-road motorcycle training courses designed to cater to every level of experience and ability. Whether you're looking for a motorcycle introduction lesson, CBT (Compulsory Basic Training), or full licence/Direct Access Scheme (DAS), we have courses tailored to your needs:

Motorcycle Introduction Lesson: These lessons provide beginners with the necessary foundation to develop safe and enjoyable riding skills.
CBT Training: Compulsory Basic Training is the first step towards obtaining a motorcycle licence. At BUMPY, we offer CBT training designed to equip riders with the essential skills for safe and legal road use.
Full Licence/DAS Training: Our Direct Access Scheme courses offer riders the opportunity to upgrade to a full motorcycle licence, permitting them to ride larger capacity motorcycles.

Off-Road Motorcycle Training

Our off-road motorcycle training courses cater to riders of all skill levels and ages. We provide lessons for 1-hour children's beginners, half-day adult advanced trials lessons, and full-day corporate hospitality sessions, among others:

Children's Motorcycle Training: Our child-focused lessons help young riders develop essential motorcycle handling skills, promoting safe and enjoyable riding.
Adults Trials Lessons: Our trials lessons are designed for all levels, from beginners to advanced riders, offering the opportunity to hone and refine technical skills.
Corporate Hospitality/Experience Days: Our full-day corporate hospitality sessions provide a unique and engaging team-building experience, combining fun and skill development.

Additional Needs Sessions

At BUMPY, we are committed to providing safe and enjoyable motorcycle activities for everyone, including those with disabilities and additional needs. We offer passenger rides around our 10-acre park in off-road buggies or quad bikes, adapted to meet individual needs:

We work closely with local schools and educational institutions to provide accredited training courses for young people as part of their alternative provision programmes, including:

Off-Road Membership & Riding Own Bikes

Our off-road riding membership offers riders the opportunity to practice and refine their skills using their own bikes in a safe and legal environment. With access to our 10-acre park, members can develop their abilities and enjoy the freedom of off-road riding.

BUMPY Ltd has been providing essential services for over 30 years thanks to the generous support of individuals and organisations. By donating, fundraising, or utilising our services, such as bike lessons, trials lessons, CBT training, and passing your full motorcycle licence, you help support our non-profit organisation's charitable aims. Your support helps fund the upkeep of our vehicles, facilities, and enable us to continue providing engaging and life-changing experiences for disadvantaged and disabled young people.
