We are a thriving nursery, rated 'Good' by Ofsted in May 2021, that offers an exciting, rich, and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. Our founder, Alexandra Tabor, was inspired by the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and sought to create a nursery that truly values the potential, strength, and competence of each child. At The Rabbit Patch Nursery, we are committed to fostering a love for learning, creativity, and nature in every child.
Our Journey
The Rabbit Patch Nursery was born out of a desire to provide a child-led, inclusive, and natural environment for children to learn and develop. After working in nurseries in Sussex and visiting the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre, Alex was inspired to create a setting that encourages children's curiosity and empowerment. With the help and support of her family, Alex found the perfect location for the nursery, and after ten months of hard work, The Rabbit Patch Nursery opened its doors in September 2017.
Alex and her family, including her husband, two children, and their dog, Toby, live on-site, ensuring that the nursery is always cared for and that Alex is always available when needed.
Our Facilities
We offer a variety of rooms tailored to different age groups, each designed to support children's development and well-being:
- Catkins Room (3-12 months): Our Catkins Room is a nurturing space for our youngest children, catering to up to six children aged 3 months to 12 months. Here, children have access to a variety of resources that promote their development in all areas.
- Cherry Blossom Room (12-24 months): The Cherry Blossom Room is designed for children from 12 months (dependent on development) to 2 years. Centrally located, this room leads directly to the garden and enjoys a sheltered decking space.
- Silver Birch Room (2-3 years): Our Silver Birch Room caters for children aged 2 to 3 years old. This room is filled with natural light and opens onto the decking and garden, offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills and pond.
- Willow Tree Room (3-5 years): The Willow Tree Room supports the learning and development of children aged 3 to 5 years old. Adjacent to our large willow tree, this bright and airy room offers ample opportunities for exploration and creativity.
Our Surroundings and Food
Situated in a beautiful countryside location, our nursery includes a woodland area where children can connect with nature and engage in hands-on learning experiences. We believe in the importance of healthy, nutritious meals, and our in-house chef prepares well-balanced, delicious meals for the children daily.
Funding and Fees
We are proud to offer government funding for 2-year-olds and 3- to 4-year-olds, making high-quality early years education accessible to more families. For more information on fees and funding, please visit our Fees page.
