Our History

Wolds Village opened its doors in 1995, marking a return to its early days as a coaching house where weary travelers could rest and find nourishment. Built in the late 18th century, the property has been a traditional family farmhouse known as Manor Farm and has played a significant role in the area's history. Bob Holmes, Maureen Holmes, Lewis, and Sally Brealey transformed the once-neglected farmhouse into the charming establishment it is today.

The main house was meticulously restored, and the tearooms opened in May 1995, followed by the gift shop then the Dovecote in 1996. The Dovecote, originally built with over 700 pigeon holes, served as the main entrance for the summer of 1996. In April 2005, the luxury guest accommodation at the west courtyard was opened.

Today, Sally and Chris continue the legacy with the support of a small staff and occasional assistance from their daughters. We invite you to immerse yourself in the rich history and allure of this unique retreat.
