Gyana Yoga with Gill offers a tranquil haven where you can engage in a variety of soothing Yoga, Yoga Therapy, and Baby Massage courses, as well as one-to-one sessions. Since 2002, our classes have been taught by Gill Henderson, a highly experienced Yoga teacher, Yoga Therapist, and a pioneer of Pregnancy Yoga and Yoga for Scoliosis in Northern Ireland. Gill has been practising Yoga since 1991 and teaching it since 2002, and is committed to helping each student discover inner peace, wisdom (Gyana), and joy through the practices of Yoga and Meditation.

Gill Henderson - BA Hons, PGCE Yoga Teacher & Yoga Therapist

Gill's Yoga journey began when she was adopted as a baby, and her mother practised Yoga during her pregnancy. Gill absorbed Yoga with her mother's milk and formally began practising Iyengar Yoga in 1991. She fell in love with its earthy physicality, and the relaxation at the end of the classes helped ease the anxiety she had been experiencing. In 2002, Gill graduated from the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre and began teaching Yoga, knowing that it was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life.

In 2003, Gill pioneered Pregnancy Yoga in Northern Ireland, having trained with Birthlight Perinatal Yoga in London under Dr Francoise Freedman and Uma Dinsmore Tuli. Since then, she has been at the forefront of this ground-breaking work, guiding thousands of women to experience more comfortable pregnancies and empowered birth experiences. In 2004, she began teaching women postnatally, and in 2005, she qualified to teach Baby Yoga and Smart Toddler Yoga with Birthlight. It is still a pleasure to see babies and mothers practising Yoga, and even more so when they return with their fourth and fifth babies! In 2009, Gill qualified in Baby Massage with The International Association of Infant Massage. It is still delightful to see babies and mothers relaxing and bonding with this special practice.

Gill's yoga travels and studies have taken her to many countries, including India, Hawaii, France, Italy, Egypt, Canada, Turkey, Greece, and the USA. She has been privileged to train, study, and be inspired by some of the world's leading teachers and Swamis. These include Paramahamsa Niranjanananda, Swami Nishchalananda, Michael McCann, Donna Farhi, David Sye, Marlene Mawhinney, David Swenson, Kaustab Desikachar, Elise Miller, and many more.
