Biography

Simon Paterson, the founder of Paterson Restorations, has devoted his life to the art of furniture restoration for over three decades. His journey began with a degree in Furniture Design at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. In 1992, he honed his skills in Antique Furniture Restoration at West Dean College, where he was awarded a Distinction for his "Outstanding skill as a Craftsman and keen eye for colour."

West Dean College later invited Simon to return as an instructor, sharing his expertise in Furniture Making, Marquetry, and Boullework techniques. Simon specialises in the restoration of Boulle, Marquetry, Fretwork, and other intricate detailing, using materials such as Abalone shell, Horn, Bone, Tortoiseshell, Ivory, and Ivorine. He has amassed extensive experience working with rare and valuable antique furniture collections from esteemed clients such as Goodwood House, Cowdray, Uppark, and The Fleming collection.

At Paterson Restorations, Simon personally oversees each project, ensuring a high standard of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and conscientious service. With his 30-year background in specialised restoration, he is proud to offer his expertise as a member of the British Antique Furniture Restorers' Association (BAFRA).

Simon provides written Insurance quotes for furniture damaged during relocation. In the event of flood, fire, or unforeseen circumstances, he can collaborate with damage management services to customise a repair plan tailored to your needs.
