Explore Tenbury Wells' Heritage at Our Museum
Established in 1977, Tenbury Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich social history and heritage of Tenbury Wells and its surrounding district. Our collections span from archaeological finds like Ammonite fossils and Bronze Age axe heads to domestic and rural artefacts reflecting life in this market town from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries. We actively promote research into local history, publish findings for public benefit, and collaborate with community partners to conserve historical buildings and amenities. Our volunteer-run museum offers free educational programs for schools, including hands-on sessions with historical objects, and hosts monthly talks on regional history. We rely entirely on public donations and membership subscriptions to maintain our collections and continue our mission.

Our governing committee, elected annually, ensures professional management while maintaining close ties with Tenbury Town Council. Through initiatives like the Hidden Tenbury project, weve digitised local memories and created interactive heritage trails. Our facilities include a Victorian school building housing exhibits on hop-growing, agriculture, and domestic life, alongside temporary displays. We actively seek partnerships and grants to improve collection care standards, recently securing funding from AIM & The Pilgrim Trust. Visitors can explore our collections through self-guided tours, school programs, or special events held throughout the year.
