Our team is well-versed in the rules and regulations for each burial ground and can advise on memorial sizes, materials allowed, and appropriate inscriptions/ornamentations. We have showrooms dotted all over North Yorkshire, located in Wheldrake, Fulford, Selby, Easingwold, Goole, and Scarborough. Our team is always available to provide in-depth knowledge of each burial ground and assist with any queries.

The Myers History

J W Myers Monumental Masons is a long-standing family business that has been offering a professional and skilled service for many generations. The name Myers has been known in the funeral profession since 1701 with Richard Myers, a local carpenter and wheelwright using his carpentry skills to make coffins. Richard Myers went on to become the first Myers Funeral Director, setting a tradition that has carried on for nine generations of the Myers family.

James Myers, a Coffin Maker, grave digger, and funeral directors assistant joined the family business in 1999. He then became a funeral director after six years of training. However, his attention was always captivated by the memorial work and the skill that went into creating something which would last throughout the ages. James then decided to train under Joe Smith of J W Smith Memorials, another local family business which worked closely with the Myers family. In 2010, Joe Smith retired, and James seized the opportunity to purchase the equipment and stock to carry on the business under the Myers name.

Today, J W Myers Monumental Masons is run by James and his wife, Nicola Myers. Nicola is the memorial designer and office manager, whilst James oversees the workshop and fitting. We are proud to be one of the UK's leading family-owned and run Monumental Masons offering one of the largest ranges of memorials and products in the area.
