Smallmove Removals and Storage is a family-run business that has been providing removal and storage services since 1989. The business started as a man with a van service, but it quickly grew into a full-fledged removals service using a small fleet of Luton box vans. Despite the growth, the business was kept small, and this is where the name SmallMove came from, 'The Small Moving Company'.
The business has since expanded to include a removals storage warehouse and a self-storage warehouse. The three sons of the founder, David, were involved in the business, starting during the school holidays and later spending a few years driving, lifting, and shifting along with carefully selected staff. They built a first-class reputation for SmallMove that sets the standard to this day.
A significant change came when a bigger vehicle was needed. The process of obtaining an operators licence, heavy goods licences, C.P.C. courses for the drivers, and planning approval was daunting. However, with the help of David's sons, the business was able to obtain a bigger van and expanded its services. The name SmallMove started working against the business, and it began trading as 'David and Sons Removals' to attract bigger work.
Our Services
Smallmove Removals and Storage offers a range of services tailored to meet the needs of our clients. We provide local and distance removals, catering to both domestic and commercial clients. We are big enough to take on 3 & 4 bedroom houses in a single load, enabling long-distance UK moves as well as the more usual local removals. Our usual crew is made up of 2 porters and a driver/loader to ensure that we meet mid-day deadlines.
We are small enough to care, and we take great care of furniture and customers alike. We provide dismantling and rebuilding services for furniture, and we can take care of disconnecting and reconnecting appliances. Our goal is to make your big day as stress-free as possible.
Storage
Storage is available at our own warehouse, either for DIY Self Store or for us to collect and deliver. We store indoors using the proper removals industry warehouse crates, and unlike their original design, we don't stack them on top of each other. They're all on the flat and immediately accessible. Shipping containers are also available with our partner Containastore, offering 10 foot, 20 foot, and the enormous 45 foot containers.
