Uncover hidden gems, one piece at a time.

THE ATTIC has been a staple in the antique business for over 30 years, earning a well-deserved reputation for expertise and exceptional customer service. Our founder, Gary Watson, has a deep-seated passion for antiques and is knowledgeable in a wide range of areas, from retro pieces to ancient artifacts. With a particular interest in gemology and jewellery, Gary is always happy to provide free advice on the value, age, or authenticity of your items.

Our shop in Barnett Wood Lane, Ashtead, Surrey, is located in a small parade with convenient free on-road parking. It is a fascinating place to visit, filled with a wide variety of antiques and unique gifts. From unusual items of jewellery, glassware, china, and books, to large and ornate pieces of furniture, mirrors, and paintings, there is something for everyone. We also offer a house clearance service and buy a huge range of items, from bulky furniture to small accessories and personal items. We pay good prices for scrap gold and silver.

Our Services

At THE ATTIC, we pride ourselves on our extensive network of antique experts, book, jewellery and fine art dealers. This network enables us to source individual items, large or small, that you may be looking for to add to your private collection, to decorate an individual room, to furnish an entire house, or even to prettify your garden with interesting objects or old urns. We work with interior designers to supply the perfect pieces to complement their clients' requirements.

Gary is qualified to provide valuations for insurance, probate or family division, and has a separate team available for either partial or full house clearances. We are always looking to buy new items and will consider buying any items you wish to sell, paying top prices. Whether you have china, glassware, books, brass, copper, bronze, furniture, tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, sideboards, chest of drawers, wardrobes, dressing tables, hall stands, cupboards, bookcases, mirrors, oil paintings, water colours, prints, picture frames, silver-plated articles, silver articles, antique jewellery, modern jewellery, lamps, vases, or clocks, we are interested.

Please contact us directly to arrange for us to come to you to view and value the items you wish to sell at your convenience, or feel free to bring small items directly to the shop for an immediate valuation.

Reviews
Positive: The shop's pleasant owner and good value for money are highlighted as positive aspects.
Negative: The shop's small size, limited access to items, and unwelcoming atmosphere are major drawbacks.

Shop Experience

The reviews of this shop vary greatly, with some customers expressing disappointment and others enjoying a pleasant experience. The shop's size seems to be a major issue, with reviewers stating that it is extremely small and can only accommodate a limited number of customers. This, combined with the fact that the shop owner often blocks the shelves by chatting with someone else, makes it difficult for customers to browse and view the items on display.

Staff and Customer Service

Despite the shop's shortcomings, the owner is universally praised for being pleasant and welcoming. Customers appreciate the owner's enthusiasm and friendliness, which makes them feel welcome and valued.

Shop Selection and Price

The shop's selection of items is a major draw for some customers, with reviewer Anya Richter praising the shop's wide range of goods, including jewelry and objets d'art. Others, such as reviewer Andrew Dunford, appreciated the shop's value for money, with good prices for antiques and appraisals.

Disappointments

Some reviewers, like Paul A. Stacey and Good Old Tunes, were disappointed with their experience, citing the shop's tiny size and difficulty in viewing the items on display. Good Old Tunes also felt unwelcome and left the shop after just a minute.
