The Rich History of the Marrowbone & Cleaver
Established in 1871 by T.M.Frankish, a butcher and the pub's landlord, the Marrowbone & Cleaver name reflects its original dual purpose. During World War II, Kirmington became the base for the 166 Squadron, a bomber squadron that participated in numerous major raids. From 1970 onwards, Kirmington evolved into Humberside International Airport, serving local communities and beyond.
In 2016, Sally and Guy undertook a major renovation, transforming the pub into a captivating tribute to Kirmington's history. Stained-glass windows, murals, historic pictures, and Guy Martin's speed memorabilia are just a few of the unique elements that make the Marrowbone & Cleaver a truly special experience.
In 2019, Sally Martin acquired the pub from her brother, Guy, solidifying her commitment to preserving the legacy and warmth of her favourite local establishment.
