Witney Pony Partners is a Defra-licensed equine centre based in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside on the edge of the Cotswolds. Our centre is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for horses and riders alike, incorporating the International Society of Equitation Science first principles into the care and riding of our equine partners.
Our Philosophy
At Witney Pony Partners, we believe in the importance of building strong relationships between horses and riders. We achieve this by using biomechanics in our riding lessons, allowing the horse to understand what we want without having to resort to kicking or artificial aids such as bits, spurs, and whips. Our stable management sessions cover equine behaviour, welfare, and care, while our horsemanship lessons delve deeper into equine behaviour, training on the ground, liberty, and trick training.
Our Services
We offer a range of services catering to riders of all ages and abilities. Our riding lessons are split into two sections: groundwork and ridden. During the groundwork section, you will spend time with your allocated horse or pony grooming, saddling, and preparing to ride. During the ridden section, you will learn how to ride using biomechanics and a simple rope hackamore. We also offer pony experiences and themed days for kids, pony parties, alternative education for SEN and home schooling, mindfulness and equine therapy, clinics, and courses for adults, as well as freelance instruction on your own horse.
In addition to our riding lessons, we also offer non-ridden options such as group and private lessons in trick training, liberty work, groundwork, and stable management. Our therapeutic horsemanship sessions include grooming, groundwork, stable management, and can include some NLP techniques to help with anxiety and confidence. We also offer mindfulness classes and pony walking (non-ridden) along the Windrush River Meadows.
