Penelope's Dance Studio

Penelope's Dance Studio, located in Birmingham, has been a leading dance institution for over 41 years, dedicated to providing exceptional Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance Training. Our inclusive and nurturing environment welcomes children from 18 months to adult learners, offering a range of classes designed to inspire, educate, and foster a love for dance.

As a Royal Ballet School Affiliate Teacher, I, Penelope Frost, am committed to creating happy, confident, and well-informed dancers. I believe that dance should be an enjoyable journey, and examinations are merely markers of a dancer's progress. With a keen interest in the emerging science of best teaching practices, I strive to provide a safe, non-judgemental space for learning, where success is measured by a child's happiness and ability to move freely with ease, musicality, and self-confidence.

Classes

We offer a variety of classes tailored to different age groups and skill levels:

• Baby Ballet (18 months - 3 years): Our pre-school classes provide a fun and engaging introduction to dance, fostering creativity and musicality.
• Lower School (4 - 10 years): These classes focus on building a strong foundation in ballet technique, introducing students to the fundamentals of dance.
• Middle School (11 - 14 years): As students advance, our middle school classes refine technique and introduce more complex movements and choreography.
• Upper School (15 - 18 years): Our upper school classes prepare students for advanced dance studies, focusing on refining technique, artistry, and performance skills.
• One-to-One Adult Ballet (19+ years): These classes cater to adult learners, offering personalised guidance and instruction in ballet technique.
• Adult Ballet (19+ years): Open to all levels, these classes encourage lifelong learning and enjoyment of dance.

Examinations and Results

We hold external examinations three times a year with both The Royal Academy of Dance and IDTA. Our students consistently achieve outstanding results, with an average distinction+. We believe in a holistic approach to dance education, using examinations as a tool for assessing progress, rather than the sole purpose of dance training.

Affiliate Teacher of The Royal Ballet School

I am honoured to be an Affiliate Teacher of The Royal Ballet School, offering the new and exciting Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme (ATAP) starting in JANUARY 2024. This programme aligns with my personal ethos, providing high-quality training in classical ballet vocabulary, body conditioning, creative practice, and repertoire study within a safe and child-centred environment. I am thrilled to bring The Royal Ballet School's ethos and expertise directly to new and existing students.
