Our History

The Elford name was established in the building trade by Rex Elford, who founded Elford and Richford Ltd. in 1969. The company later evolved to become Elford & Sons Ltd. in 1989, and is now managed by Rex's younger son Julian, with oldest son Christopher as one of the company's skilled carpenter/joiners. Although Christopher sadly passed away in 2014, his legacy lives on, and we continue to strive for excellence in his memory.

We operate from our established premises located in the village of Boxford, where we have an extensive yard, workshop, and storage facilities. Our team of highly skilled, dedicated, and experienced craftsmen, together with like-minded, professional, and trustworthy sub-contractors, enable us to deliver a comprehensive range of domestic building services, including new builds, extensions, listed building works, refurbishments, barn conversions, kitchen and bathroom design and installation, interior and exterior decorating services, flooring, tiling, plastering and rendering, plumbing and heating, electrical services, driveways and patios, bespoke carpentry and joinery design and build, replacement/refurbishment of windows and doors, and roofing services.

We provide inclusive full project management as standard on all projects, allowing a smooth and uninterrupted flow of works and communication throughout the contract from beginning to final completion. We are happy to provide free, no obligation formal quotations for all work, however big or small, and welcome competitive tenders from architect practices.

Our Commitment

We are longstanding members of both the National House Building Council and Federation of Master Builders, and hold comprehensive public and liability insurance cover. Our team is trained in first aid, and we operate from our established premises located in the village of Boxford.
