Romney Marsh Area Internal Drainage Board (RMAIDB) is a non-profit making organisation, concerned with matters of land drainage and the maintenance and control of certain watercourses. As a ratepayer-funded Local Authority, we are dedicated to providing exceptional services to our community. Our team of experts is committed to ensuring the efficient management of watercourses, maintenance of drains, and conservation of the environment.

Our Services

At RMAIDB, we take pride in offering a wide range of services to our community. Our services include the maintenance and control of approximately 350km of watercourses in our district, ensuring the smooth flow of water and preventing flooding. We also work closely with local authorities to ensure that our district is protected from the risks of water-borne diseases and environmental hazards.

Our team of skilled engineers and experts work tirelessly to ensure that our watercourses are well-maintained, and any issues are addressed promptly. We also provide emergency services to handle out-of-hours emergencies, ensuring that our community is always protected.

Our History

RMAIDB is the amalgamation of the Romney Marsh Levels, the Walland Marsh, the Denge and Southbrooks, the Rother, and the Pett Internal Drainage Boards. Our rich history dates back to the Land Drainage Act 1991, which appointed 22 Board Members to oversee the management of our district.
