Empowering Young Minds to Explore, Learn and Grow
At The Learning Tree Childcare, we are a preschool nursery based in Isleworth, catering for children aged from 6 months to 5 years old. We have been proudly serving the local community since 2008, earning an enviable reputation for the quality of care we deliver, the happiness of our children, and the dedication and loyalty of our staff.
Our Ethos
Our ethos is built on a mix of old and new. We believe in embracing the concepts of child-led learning, placing emphasis on responding to the child and their interests. This approach allows our children to feel like every day is an adventure and a challenge. This approach is not new; it has been the bedrock of Montessori education, which was ahead of its time. However, today's thinking goes beyond that by matching the fullest extent of the imagination and desire of the children themselves.
Forest School and Outdoor Play
We are pioneers of the Forest School concept in The London Borough of Hounslow and lead the way in this area, thanks in large part to our unequalled outdoor space. The families that have come to our setting have embraced the healthy and hardy benefits of outdoor play. Our outdoor activities include playing in our mud kitchen, building real fires, sawing wood, building outdoor shelters, digging, creating, and playing outdoors.
Our Staff
We take pride in employing and retaining the right staff who believe in our ethos of promoting the concept of Forest School and emphasizing the importance of physical activity. Some of our staff have been with us for years, since the beginning of the nursery in fact. We have placed a great emphasis on growing and developing our staff. Our staff is made up of a team of graduate qualified staff, EYP, and staff training to complete their Level 3 qualification as well as senior undergraduate staff. We are a highly trained, educated, and experienced team.
Physical Literacy
Physical literacy is a vital aspect of our nursery. We believe that physical activity should be a part of every child's day. Our outdoor space is designed to encourage physical activity, and our staff are trained to promote physical literacy. We believe that physical activity is essential for children's development, both physically and emotionally.
Healthy Setting
We work within the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which means that we treat each child with equal concern. We request that parents/families contribute with ideas to maintain an interesting and varied menu for our children. We believe that a healthy setting is essential for our children's well-being and development.
Who's Who
Our Director, Mona, is the driving force behind The Learning Tree Childcare. She started the nursery in 2008 as home-based childcare and has since qualified from Kingston University as an Early Years Professional. Mona works closely in partnership with the team and a joint-setting SENCO as well as a joint Safeguarding Officer. She is a trained Forest School Leader and strives to maintain a team who value the importance of early years, outdoor play, and physical literacy to support a mindset of valuing yourself. Mona is also working with a number of organisations and is focused on driving forward the messages coming from organisations such as Laureus, Model City, You Be You, International Physical Literacy Association, and UCL Institute of Education. Mona's overall vision for the nursery is to offer innovative and exciting opportunities for families, practitioners, and the children.
Disappointing Experience
Elsa Sakki-Foura's review is a cautionary tale about a nursery that fails to meet even the most basic standards of customer service. The author had a frustrating experience, feeling that the nursery was either severely understaffed or lacked basic courtesy in responding to her queries.
Frustrating Process
Sakki-Foura's main gripe is the nursery's refusal to share information about its availability or fees over the phone, and instead demanding that she fill out a form. She did so one week prior, but received no response. When she called repeatedly, her calls went unanswered, and a voice message left three days prior was never returned.
Unsatisfactory Service
The author concludes that this nursery is not worth recommending, citing its poor communication and apparent lack of staff as major concerns. She suggests that there are better options available in the area.
