Petersham Gardens is a family-run business, founded over 30 years ago by one of our directors, Stephen. What started as a small garden maintenance company has grown into a comprehensive landscaping design firm that can undertake domestic, residential and commercial projects. Based in Richmond upon Thames, we pride ourselves on experience, professionalism, and reliability, designing, creating, and maintaining beautiful gardens throughout the London area and its surroundings.
Our History
Initially in 1984, Stephen worked by himself, following in his father's footsteps. Combining passion with experience, the demand for a service in the local area grew rapidly, and by 1990, Stephen needed to take on some staff. The firm expanded in 2012 to include designs with three landscaping teams and two garden maintenance teams. Since 2020, the firm delivers design-lead projects with two garden designers on board. In 2018, Stephen started a research and development side to the company to share knowledge and experience with other landscaping firms, garden enthusiasts, and horticulturists, and to contribute to the community. In 2023, Petersham Gardens have a team of professionals from both the home counties and overseas with a background in design, agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture, planning, and joinery and/or metalwork.

Our Ethos
Our ethos is to provide you with service excellence and outstanding customer value. We are Checkatrade registered and approved, and we're also members of FSB. We've applied to become registered installers of Jacksons Fencing. We endeavour to answer all calls, but if we can't, please leave your contact details on our answer phone, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. In many cases, we can arrange a same-day consultation service at your property during the week, Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm (until 6pm in summer). We also offer weekend appointments that need to be booked in advance.
