Empowering young minds, nurturing young futures.
At Hampden Gurney, we pride ourselves on providing a warm and nurturing environment that fosters a love of learning and a sense of belonging. With a history dating back to 1863, our school has a rich tradition of providing a high-quality education that prepares our children for a lifetime of learning and achievement.
Our Mission and Values
Our mission is deeply rooted in the theology and Biblical teachings of Matthew 7:7, which speaks to the importance of prayer as a way of developing an enriched life and personal relationship with God. At Hampden Gurney, we believe in the vital importance of prayer and worship in our daily lives. Our curriculum is designed to provide children with a thirst for knowledge and wisdom, a high level of challenge, and a deep understanding that we are all equal and made in the image of God.
Curriculum and Learning
Our curriculum is sequentially designed to develop children's creative thinking skills, spirituality, self-confidence, and the ability to build on what they have learned before. Inclusion is at the heart of our school, and we pride ourselves in raising awareness of equalities and fundamental human rights, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Staff and Governance
We have a dedicated and committed team of staff who are highly skilled, trained, and motivated to provide the learning opportunities that enthuse and inspire our children. Our strong leadership and governance are key features of our school's success, with a clear vision and direction guiding our work.
Admissions
We admit a maximum of 30 children into our Reception Year, and for the 2024-2025 academic year, we are accepting applications for children born between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2020. As a voluntary aided Church of England school, we provide an education based on Christian principles and have close links with our parish church, The Annunciation.
Parents and Carers
We believe that parents and carers play a vital role in our children's education and welcome their involvement in school life. We have a variety of ways for parents to engage with school, including regular parent-teacher associations and parent bulletins.
Our Community
We are proud of our strong links with our local community and work closely with our parish church, The Annunciation. Our relationships with each other, our local community, and global companions lead us to want to care and serve others.
Events and News
Throughout the year, we host a range of events and activities that bring our community together. From our annual open morning to parent-teacher association coffee mornings, we welcome parents and carers to join us in celebrating the achievements of our children.
