Nurturing Curiosity, Inspiring Learning, Empowering Children
At Chantry House Nursery, we pride ourselves on providing a unique learning experience that combines excellent childcare provision and facilities. Located in the heart of Chichester, our nursery is a purpose-built premise with plenty of natural light and spacious classrooms. Our state-of-the-art facilities are designed to support and encourage each child's development and learning.
Our Ethos
Our pedagogical approach at Chantry House is based on a blend of theories and knowledge from a diverse range of sources. We believe that young children are robust thinkers, not fragile learners, and that they are all born with limitless potential. Our approach is designed to nurture and enhance children's natural curiosity, drive to identify and solve problems, innate playfulness, and a child's innate drive to socialise and explore human contact and communication.
Our Principles
Some of the key principles that underpin our practice include:
- Offering choices throughout play and learning to support a child's need to share their own voice and opinion
- Active listening: supporting children to feel heard and learn to listen to others' ideas in an active way
- Playfulness and joyfulness: supporting a child to find their own playfulness and joy
- Scaffolding: drawing on each individual practitioner's knowledge base to support and enhance children's play
- Risky play: encouraging children to engage in risky play, planning and thinking about strategies to solve problems
- Golden rules: supporting children to self-regulate and achieve executive function as well as supporting positive behaviour reinforcement
- Positive learning dispositions: fostering and nurturing each child's love of learning
- Physical well-being: supporting the children's understanding of healthy food choices, oral hygiene, and physical activity benefits
- Executive function and self-regulation: nurturing children as they explore and develop their own cognitive ability
- Natural world: nurturing the children's understanding of why it's important to look after our planet and supporting children to make active choices to help our environment
- Parents as partners: nurturing a positive home learning environment and supporting families to feel involved with their child's nursery education
- Cultural capital: ensuring that every child leaves with their backpack as full as possible with a wide range of experience explored and knowledge shared between both children, practitioners, and families
- British values: supporting children to understand the British values and ensuring that as a staff team, we always model the British values throughout our daily practices
- High-quality provision for all: providing the highest quality of care and education for all children, including supporting those with SEN to the highest standards.
Our Facilities
Our nursery is equipped with quality resources to support and encourage each child's development and learning. We have three classrooms, Pooh Bear, Roo, and Tigger, designed to allow children to form secure bonds with their peers and progress to the next stage of learning as a whole class. We also have a beautiful garden and outdoor classroom that allows children to take the fun and learning outside.
Our Sessions
We offer morning, afternoon, school day, and full day sessions, with flexible pick-up and drop-off times to accommodate your busy schedule. We are open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year. Healthy snacks, water, milk, and nutritious freshly prepared lunch are served every day.
We cater to children from 3 months old to 5 years old and provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters growth, exploration, and a sense of belonging. Our experienced and dedicated team of practitioners are committed to providing the highest quality of care and education for your child.

Overall Experience
The reviews present a mixed assessment of the nursery, with one reviewer extremely satisfied and the other extremely dissatisfied.
Positive Feedback
Staff and Facilities
One reviewer praised the nursery, highlighting the great staff and facilities. Their child reportedly loves attending the nursery and has learned a significant amount.
Negative Feedback
Organisational Skills and Customer Service
On the other hand, one reviewer had a terrible experience with the nursery's organisational skills and customer service. They were left waiting outside in the cold with their 10-month-old baby, only to be told they weren't ready for their scheduled appointment. The reviewer never received an apology and was asked to wait another week for a new appointment, which they deemed unacceptable.
