Elizabeth Welsh Family Law Practice is Ayrshire's only specialist family law practice. Founded in 2002, the practice has led the way in providing high-quality family law advice in the West of Scotland. Our team of experienced solicitors is dedicated to providing expert legal advice and assistance in all aspects of family law. We have established relationships with a network of professionals, including accountants, financial advisers, surveyors, forensic accountants, and lawyers in related fields. Our Team Members

Carolyn Paton, Partner

Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law, Carolyn has over 37 years of experience in advising on family law. She has written articles on family law matters for a local newspaper and is a member of the Family Law Association. Carolyn is also appointed as a child welfare reporter by Ayr Sheriff Court and has trained and acted as a Citizens Advocate on a voluntary basis.

Penny Galloway, Partner

Penny Galloway studied History at the University of Oxford and Law at the University of Glasgow. Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law, Penny is a member of the Family Law Association. She has extensive experience in advising on family law matters, including divorce and financial provision, cohabitation, children's law, and Adults with Incapacity.

Elizabeth Welsh, Retired Senior Partner

Elizabeth Welsh, the firm's founder, retired in October 2021 after advising on family law for over 30 years. Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law, Elizabeth was a founder member of the Family Law Association. She regularly wrote and lectured on family law and advised on the development of legislation on family law issues, including being invited to give evidence to the Scottish Parliament.
