Dating back to the 18th century, our hotel offers 22 uniquely designed rooms, each with its own individual character and charm. Our hotel is nestled in the heart of the city, making it the perfect spot for your next weekend break or historic trip. Our rooms are stylishly decorated, with calming colours, modern furnishings, and each has its own story to tell.

Our History
Vanbrugh House was built by the Peisley family, leading stonemasons of the time, and served as their home for three generations. Today, we are proud to offer a unique and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a romantic getaway or a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The quality of the rooms is a mixed bag, with some guests praising the cleanliness and comfort of their rooms, while others found them to be dark, small, and in need of repair. Some rooms were found to be dated, with peeling paint and hard beds, while others were tastefully decorated and well-appointed.

The location of the hotel is unanimously praised, with all guests agreeing that it is excellent, quiet, and convenient for exploring Oxford. The hotel is situated in a quiet street, just a few minutes' walk from the Bodleian and Weston libraries, as well as restaurants and coffee shops.
