The North London Sailing Association (NLSA) is a community group dedicated to providing easy access to affordable sailing for anyone who wants to sail. With the aim of getting more people out onto the water, developing their skills, extending their experience both on inland and coastal waters, and hopefully building a passion for the sport.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote sailing opportunities within the local community, and to provide a platform for sailors of all levels to improve their skills and enjoy the sport. We believe that sailing is a fantastic way to get people out of their comfort zone, challenge themselves, and develop new skills.

Our Locations

We have two locations where members can sail: West Reservoir in Stoke Newington, London and Brightlingsea Centre in Essex. West Reservoir is a beautiful location, tucked away in the London Borough of Hackney, and offers 23 acres of water. Sailing sessions run all year round, with additional weekly sessions held during the summer.

Racing and Training

Racing and training are an integral part of the NLSA. We offer RYA training courses for both dinghies and powerboats, and our racing programme provides a fun and challenging way to improve your sailing skills. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just starting out, we welcome everyone to join us on the water and enjoy the thrill of racing.

Membership Benefits

As a member of the NLSA, you will enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • Access to sailing sessions at West Reservoir and Brightlingsea Centre
  • Opportunities to improve your sailing skills through RYA training and coaching
  • Membership of our sailing community, with regular social events and gatherings
  • Discounts on sailing equipment and accessories

Our History

The North London Sailing Association is proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. For five decades, we have been providing easy access to affordable sailing for anyone who wants to sail. We have seen generations of sailors come and go, each with their own stories and experiences of sailing on the water.

Looking to the Future

As we look to the future, we are excited to see what the next 50 years hold for the NLSA. We will continue to provide opportunities for sailors to improve their skills and enjoy the sport, while promoting sailing opportunities within the local community.

Get Involved

If you're interested in joining us or finding out more about the NLSA, please get in touch with our membership secretary, Mary Leaming, at membership@northlondonsailing.org. We would be delighted to welcome you to our sailing community.
