Established in 2003, James Design is a specialist furniture-making business rooted in traditional craftsmanship and sustainable practices. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne at Mushroom Works, our workshop combines decades of hands-on experience with a deep respect for natural materials. Nick James, the founder, graduated from Derby University with a degree in Applied Arts and Sustainable Design before honing his skills at Rycotewood College, one of the UK's leading institutions for furniture making. Our approach prioritises bespoke commissions tailored to individual client needs, ensuring each piece is crafted to last generations. Sustainability is central to our practice, exemplified by our stewardship of a 500-year-old woodland, which inspires our designs and reinforces our commitment to environmental responsibility.
