History
Our story began in the early 1960s, when Gerry Lockran, Royd Rivers, and Cliff Aungier started the famous Folksville sessions. These sessions featured emerging British and European artists, as well as established American blues legends. As the blues and folk scenes flourished, we welcomed diverse genres, from psychedelic rock to mod and pub-rock pioneers. Through it all, The Half Moon remained a steadfast supporter of traditional British folk music.
Residencies
Over the years, we've been honored to host some of the music world's most iconic acts. Elvis Costello and Steve Marriott of Small Faces fame found a home at The Half Moon, as did John Martyn, Tim Rose, and Roy Harper. U2 played four times, including their first sold-out show.
