Promoting Agriculture and Rural Life in the East of England

The East of England Agricultural Society has a rich and vibrant history dating back to 1797. We're a passionate team dedicated to promoting agriculture, rural life, and all things food and farming in the East of England.

Our Mission

Our core objective is to support and inspire those involved in agriculture and the rural economy. We achieve this through:

  • Education: Delivering engaging educational programmes for children and adults through Kids Country, workshops, and events.
  • Engagement: Organising and participating in events like the East of England Show and the Festival of Hounds.
  • Community Support: Providing scholarships and grants to individuals and organizations in the agricultural industry and rural communities.
  • Advocacy: Raising awareness of the vital role agriculture plays in the region and wider society.

Who We Are

The Society is a registered charity and relies on the commitment and expertise of over 300 volunteers alongside our dedicated staff. Our members - farmers, landowners, businesses, and individuals passionate about the countryside - form the backbone of our organization.

Our Values

Our work is guided by these core values:

  • Inclusivity: We believe in fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone in agriculture and rural communities.
  • Sustainability: We promote environmentally conscious practices and the protection of rural landscapes.
  • Innovation: We embrace new ideas and technologies to enhance agricultural productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaboration: We foster strong partnerships with individuals, organizations, and businesses to achieve lasting impact.

Supporting a Sustainable Future

We believe in the power of agriculture to deliver sustainable food security and environmental vitality. We actively participate in initiatives that promote:

  • Buy Local Produce: Celebrating and encouraging the purchase of locally produced food.
  • Eat Seasonally: Raising awareness of the importance of consuming food in season and reducing food waste.
  • Business Directory: Providing a platform for local agricultural businesses.
