Our History

The Bedford Hotel has a fascinating history, dating back to the early 19th century when it was originally Wallis's Marine Library and Reading Rooms. Our hotel is owned by the Pyne family, who are third-generation farmers from Budleigh Salterton in Devon. The family's farming heritage is still evident in our commitment to using locally sourced, high-quality produce in our restaurant and bar.
