Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfold
Little Drummers Pre-School is a sessional institution that provides excellent care and education for children from the age of 2, based in the Drummond Community Centre in Hedge End, Southampton. Our location provides us with close proximity to Berrywood, Wellstead & Shamblehurst Primary Schools, and Wildern Secondary School, making us an ideal choice for local families.
At Little Drummers Pre-School, we firmly believe that children are not mere objects to be moulded but are individuals with innate wisdom and capabilities. We follow a philosophy of education that begins with recognising the wisdom and capabilities of children. Our approach is to join them in their world of play, enabling them to learn, explore, and experiment in a safe and secure environment. Our belief is that we are not simply preparing children for the next step but laying the foundation for their future learning, making this stage in their development vitally important.
Our Services
We offer a range of services that cater to the emotional, intellectual, and physical wellbeing of every child through exploration and experimentation with an environment that focuses on learning through play. Our services include:
- Sessional Pre-School Education: We offer sessional pre-school education for children from the age of 2. Our sessions run from Monday to Friday during term-time.
- Childcare: We provide childcare services during our session times, enabling parents to work or study while knowing that their children are in safe hands.
- Early Years Education: We deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which ensures that our children receive the best possible foundation for their future learning.
- Play-Based Learning: We recognise that children learn best through play, and our environment is tailored to enable children to explore, experiment, and learn at their own pace.
- Forest School: Our Forest School enables children to connect with nature and develop a love for the outdoors while learning new skills and having fun.
At Little Drummers Pre-School, we take the safeguarding of children seriously. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) ensures that all staff are trained and equipped to recognise and respond to any safeguarding concerns appropriately.
