Welcome to The Star Inn, a traditional English pub located in the picturesque village of St. Mary in the Marsh on Romney Marsh. Our inn dates back to the late 15th century and has a rich history, having served as a thatched farm dwelling, ale house, and shelter for shepherds before becoming a pub. Today, we continue to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike, offering a range of real ales, beers, and wines accompanied by high-quality, home-cooked meals.
Our kitchen serves lunch from Tuesday to Saturday, from 12pm to 3pm, and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, from 6pm to 8.30pm. On Sundays, we offer a special lunch menu from 12pm to 3pm. We pride ourselves on cooking with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and change our menu regularly to make the most of seasonal produce.
In addition to our welcoming indoor seating area, we have undertaken several gardening projects to maximise our outdoor space. Our garden area provides overflow parking and is also available for private hire events. During the summer, we host a range of events, including classic car events, mini music festivals, outdoor bands, and Morris dancing. We are also proud to support local charities and host events such as the Folkestone Rotary Club's Channel 50 Charity Bike Ride and the Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club's Romney Marsh Run.
Food
Our food menu offers a range of options to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. For starters, we offer soups of the day, garlic mushrooms, garlic bread, grilled halloumi, and more. Our main menu includes classic pub favourites such as pie of the day, steak, scampi, chicken burgers, and beef chilli, as well as a range of vegetarian and vegan options. We also offer a selection of desserts, including sticky toffee pudding, spotted dick, tiramisu, Bailey's cheesecake, toffee apple crumble, and chocolate brownie.
