At The Pheasant, we take pride in being a hidden gem in the rural area of Sorbie, South Scotland. Since opening its doors in 2015, our restaurant has gone from strength to strength, gaining loyal local customers and popularity with visitors. Our husband and wife team, Andrea and Morag Cuomo, have worked hard to establish a restaurant that serves innovative and inspiring food, with a focus on traditional Italian dishes and contemporary twists.
Our Story
Our story began when we returned to Morag's roots to grow our family and establish a new business. With many years of experience in the trade behind us, we brought our vision to life in The Pheasant. Our restaurant's interior has been renovated with Morag's creative eye, featuring a modern rustic style, bespoke lighting, driftwood bar, and original artwork, creating an elegant, warm, and cozy atmosphere.
Our Food
Our menu is a combination of authentic Italian dishes inspired by Andrea's upbringing in Naples, as well as innovative recipes featuring interesting twists. We pride ourselves on using locally sourced produce, supporting local suppliers whenever possible, and taking advantage of the wealth of high-quality produce that Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway has to offer. Our aim is to minimize waste, and we have a minimum waste policy, with frequent small deliveries of fresh produce ensuring the quality of our dishes.

We strive to provide the best experience possible, from the atmosphere to the quality of every dish, and exceptional customer service. Andrea, our head chef, brings his passion for food, family, and football to the kitchen, while Morag, our co-owner, loves chatting with customers about food, travel, and experiences in the area.
