Sailing towards a brighter future

The Brightlingsea Coastal Sailing Centre is an RYA Training Centre that offers a wide range of dinghy and powerboat courses. We are operated as a joint venture between the North London Youth Sailing Trust, a Registered Charity No. 1015997, which owns and operates the boats and sailing equipment, and the North London Sailing Association, which owns and operates the building. Our centre is situated on the Colne estuary between Colchester and Clacton, providing a sheltered and ideal location for sailing and powerboating. With a long maritime tradition of fishing and boat building, Brightlingsea is well-known for its leisure boating activities.

Our Objectives

Our primary objective is to provide high-quality sailing and powerboating experiences for individuals and groups. We strive to achieve this by offering a range of courses and activities that cater to different skill levels and interests. Our experienced instructors are trained to provide safe and enjoyable sailing experiences for everyone, from beginners to seasoned sailors.

  • RYA Recognition Certificate: We offer RYA recognition certificates for dinghy and powerboat courses. Our instructors are fully qualified and certified to deliver these courses.
  • Booking, Feedback and Payment Forms: We make it easy for customers to book their sailing and powerboating activities with us. Our booking and payment forms are simple and easy to use.
  • Bookings Calendar: We have a calendar system that allows customers to book their sailing and powerboating activities in advance. This ensures that we can accommodate their needs and preferences.
  • General Conditions of Use for Sailing and Powerboating Groups: We have a set of general conditions that outline the rules and regulations for sailing and powerboating groups that use our facilities. These conditions aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all users.

Induction of Senior Instructors

We offer inductions for senior instructors who wish to use our facilities and services. Our inductions are designed to equip senior instructors with the necessary knowledge and skills to supervise and manage sailing and powerboating activities at our centre.

SI Induction Documents

We provide SI induction documents to senior instructors who have completed our induction program. These documents outline the procedures and guidelines for supervising and managing sailing and powerboating activities at our centre.
