Experience the Flavors of the East
Our Story
The Shimla Palace has a rich history that dates back to the 16th century. The building that now houses our restaurant was originally a farm dwelling and hostelry, known as the Roebuck Inn. Its strategic location on the main London to Liverpool route made it a popular staging post for weary travellers and merchants. In fact, one of the most famous people to stay at the inn was Oliver Cromwell himself during the English Civil War period.
Over the years, the inn continued to cater to travellers until the advent of faster modes of transportation. As the need for staging posts decreased, the emphasis shifted to serving the local farming community and sawmills in the nearby industries. In the more recent past, the business grew and eventually transformed into the renowned Shimla Palace, a Bangladeshi and Indian restaurant known for its high-quality food and excellent service.
