Our Story
Scales Farm has a rich history, dating back to the 1650s. In the early 1980s, the farmhouse was converted into a guest house, and we are proud to have continued this legacy. In 2015, we undertook extensive modernisation, including the installation of a renewable energy boiler, ensuring a comfortable and eco-friendly stay for our guests.
Meet Ivan and Helen
We, Ivan and Helen, are the proud owners of Scales Farm. We discovered the Lake District by chance in the 1990s and were immediately smitten. We spent 15 years as hillwalking leaders, and eventually, we made the bold decision to leave London behind and make the Lake District our home. We are passionate about sharing our love for the area with our guests and are always happy to offer expert advice on the best walks and attractions.
