Embracing childhood, fostering futures
Our Story
Centre 33 is a charity that has been supporting young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for over 40 years. Our mission is to provide free and confidential support to young people up to the age of 25, helping them with their mental health, caring responsibilities, housing, sexual health, and more. We believe that all young people have the right to be listened to and to influence or make the decisions that affect their lives.
Our Services
At Centre 33, we offer a range of free and confidential services to support young people. These include:
- Counselling and wellbeing support to help young people cope with their emotions and overcome their problems
- Information on sexual health, housing, budgeting, and other practical issues that may be affecting young people
- A young carers' project to support young carers and their families
- Drop-in sessions in five main centres, open six days a week
- Outreach work in schools and other community settings to reach young people who may not be able to access our services in person
Our History
Centre 33 was established in 1981 with just one paid worker, 10 volunteers, and a steering group. Our first premises were a former young people's health clinic on Clarendon Street in Cambridge. Over the years, we have expanded our services and opened new centres in Ely, Wisbech, Huntingdon, and Peterborough. Today, we work with over 1000 young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough every year.
Our Values
At Centre 33, we are committed to the following values:
- We are young people-led, meaning that we listen to and involve young people in all our decision-making processes
- We are collaborative, working with other local services and organizations to ensure that young people receive the support they need
- We are inclusive, working to reach and support young people from all backgrounds and communities
- We strive for excellence, always looking for ways to improve our services and make a greater impact
Get Involved
Centre 33 relies on donations and support from the community to continue our work. We believe that everyone can make a difference, whether that's by volunteering with us, donating funds, or spreading the word about our services.
