Holmeshead Farm

We have been running our traditional Lake District hill farm for many years, offering a unique and peaceful retreat for our guests. Our farm, which dates back to the 17th century, is situated in a beautiful location, just above the tiny hamlet of Skelwith Fold. We are a family-run business, with Edward Ireton managing the farm and his wife Judith looking after our guests. We pride ourselves on providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with the charm of earlier times. Our farm is surrounded by stunning countryside, with the fine Langdale valley and Lake Windermere just a short drive away. We offer a range of accommodation options, including bed and breakfast, self-catering caravan, and horse holidays. We are committed to providing excellent service and ensuring that our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Our farmhouse has been modernised to provide a high standard of comfort and decoration, while still retaining its original character and structural features. We serve a generous full English breakfast, with vegetarian and lighter alternatives available. We also offer packed lunches and have an extensive array of leaflets and brochures on walks and local attractions. We are proud of our farm and its history, and we are always happy to share our knowledge and expertise with our guests. We strive to provide a truly idyllic spot for a short break, whether our guests want to enjoy peaceful walks, ride the fells on their mountain bike, or simply relax and take in the stunning views.
